Open Education for Access, Equity, and Transformative Learning

In this workshop, we’ll explore ways in which adopting open educational resources and open teaching practices can allow you to fully exercise your agency as a teacher, eliminate access barriers for your students, and create more equitable learning environments. We’ll also take a look at how involving your students in the creation of open materials can create authentic and deeply meaningful learning experiences, extend your courses beyond the span of a semester, and eliminate what have come to be known as “disposable” assignments. We’ll center our discussion on the transformative pedagogical practices made possible by tools and materials that permit free access and reuse.
