The Teaching Development Travel Fund offers financial support of up to $1,500 per academic year to assist faculty in enhancing their teaching skills by attending teaching-related workshops or conferences.
Proposals should include a description of the workshop/conference, an itemized budget, and a brief explanation of how the program will enhance one’s teaching skills. Requests will not be granted if the conference is primarily designed to further the research, writing, or artistic activities of teacher-scholars. Exceptions can be made for teaching conferences that are held alongside or within the scholarly meetings of one’s professional society, but clear documentation of a substantial sub-conference is necessary.
Reimbursement requests should be submitted in Workday within 30 days of return from travel (or 60 days from incurring expense) and received by the CAT no later than June 1 of the current fiscal year. Questions or issues with respect to reimbursement should be directed to Deborah Snyder at firstname.lastname@example.org or 336.758.4587.
Applications are accepted throughout the year, but funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
